S2 Pupil Murray Walks For UK Veterans

We are extremely proud of one of our S2 pupils who, this week, began a fundraising project in aid of the veterans charity Walking With The Wounded. Please take the time to read about Murray’s incredible work and, if you can afford to, donate to his total in aid of the charity.

Here Murray tells us more about it:

Hi my name is Murray. I am  an S2 pupil in Wick High School.

My aim is to raise money for Walking with the Wounded. This is a charity who raises money for veterans all over the UK.

They raise the money through volunteers walking a set distance and having people sponsor them.

I think this is a really important charity as the veterans  in the UK gave their tomorrow for our today so I thought it would be a good idea to start a team with Army Cadets across Caithness and Ross.

  • £5 would fund a walking pole for a wounded veteran connecting them with the outdoors again
  • £25 could provide emergency electricity, keeping the lights on for a veteran and their family this winter
  • £86 could provide essential shopping for a veteran and their family this winter
  • £133 could get a veteran the medical support they need including a therapy session
  • £798 could provide a veteran with a therapist cycle, helping them cope with day-to-day life

I started this challenge on Tuesday the 12 of November 2024 and have set myself a target of 100 miles by Christmas 2024. We currently have a team of 11 members who are all setting their own targets and together we have raised £776.41 after only one day of fundraising.

Because of this, we’ve raised our fundraising goal. We’d all really appreciate anyone being able to donate to the cause, which you can do by clicking on the link below:
