WHS Raises Money For CLIC Sargent

Both pupils and staff from the school recently took part in CLIC Sargent 60 Mile Challenge. CLIC Sargent fight tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives. On average young cancer patients face a 60 mile round trip to receive treatment, costing £180 a month. Many families face debt and have the worry of how they will pay for this cost at the most stressful of times. We decided to take on the 60 mile challenge to try help more families with their travel costs and raise awareness of this fantastic charity.

This was an exciting challenge for most; some achieving personal goals, pushing themselves to their limits with a few of the pupils recording over 200 miles in the month. Others got some extra steps in by walking around the all-weather pitch at lunchtime or by walking to school. The PE Department helped track extra miles for pupils taking part in the challenge and we also had an exercise bike at hand to help people make up extra miles at break/lunchtime. One particular member of staff loved this and was regularly on it before the morning bell!

By the end of the challenge we had raised an amazing £1850.50!

Well done to everyone that took part in the challenge; it was lovey to see so many excited by it.
