Environmental Science Field Trip 2019

Pupils studying the new Nat3/4/5 Environmental Science Course at Wick High School braved rain and windy weather to gain experience in techniques for sampling plants and animals in different ecosystems at the Newton Hill Community Woodland.

Marina Thomson, a Highlife Highland Countryside Ranger, Mr Shand (Environmental Science teacher) and Amanda Gibbon (School Technician) shared their expertise with pupils in different sampling techniques such as pitfall traps, use of quadrats, transect lines and pond netting.
