WHS Girls Star In Caithness Rugby Victory

Wick High School pupils were involved in a famous rugby victory once again when, in the U15 Scottish Club Cup Finals, Caithness were rewarded for their journey south with a 63-26 victory over Lismore, Argyll in the Shield Final at Murrayfield.
Caithness scored 11 tries compared to Lismore’s 4 tries. Player of the Match Hannah Dunnett slotted four conversions and scored two tries and was the catalyst for the positive play Caithness brought to the match.
Caithness Head Coach, Sinclair Dunnett said: “The team has been growing all season and they just put everything together today. They have really played with confidence over the last three or four games and come up with a lot of the moves themselves and have enough savvy to pull them off in games. I’m really proud of them, some of the players travel 60 miles to get to training and they hardly miss a session and their commitment is key. It was well worth the journey down and hopefully we will be back next year.”
Wick High School pupils Bethany Peden 1R, Lyndsey Dunnet 1M and Abbie Dunnet 1F were involved for the majority of the game and made excellent contributions in the match playing alongside, and against, older more experienced girls.
Well done to all the girls on an amazing achievement.
