WHS Awards Laurandy Centre YPI Prize

Recently S2 pupils were involved in the YPI final for 2018. It was a close fought contest, with 2N Pupils Chloe Grant, Morgan Perry, Emily Sutherland & Niamh Sutherland winning the final with their presentation highlighting the good work carried out at the Laurandy Centre here in Wick.
The centre offers day care for elderly people within the Wick Community when needed, allowing for people to interact with each other and to prevent loneliness. The girls visited the centre a number of times to gather information and to gain an insight into the hard work that goes into making this centre such a success and delivered their very creative presentation in front of their peers and local charities along with 4 other groups.
Today the pupils handed over a cheque for £3000 (a combination of funding from YPI and school charity fundraising efforts) which the centre hope to be able to purchase new chairs for their residents with, allowing the fantastic work they do for the local community to continue.
