Wick High To Host Its First Health & Wellbeing Day

On Monday 26th May, we will hold our school’s first, annual, Health & Wellbeing Day. This event will involve all pupils in S1-3 and will see them take part in one or more health related activities. These activities are being provided by members of our teaching and support staff and have totalled, this year, twenty-four available options, which is a superb effort from our colleagues. These range from a full day out at Wick Golf Course to classes in Zumba and Mandala Stone Painting.

A full list can be seen below:

Our pupils have made their choices and will get their timetable for the day, in registration, before the end of this week. For specific activities, such as swimming, appropriate kit will need to be taken on the day to properly participate but this should be obvious to those who will need it; while other activities such as glass painting and board games will have all materials provided.

In addition to the sport and non-sport activities, pupils will also spend time during the day at a roadshow of visiting health professionals including Planet Youth, NHS, Lyth Arts Centre, Countryside Rangers, Mikeysline and many others. We thank all of our wider partners for their engagement with our event and the time they have given to our youngsters to educate them on making better health choices.

Finally, we will be extending the school lunch break by 50 mins to allow pupils to sample a healthy menu of foods created by our Home Economics Department including a noodle bar and fruit smoothies as well as a specially designed, health-conscious, menu from our traditional school canteen.

We will post more about the event next week and we look forward to what promises to be a superb day for our school community.
