Pupils Achieve Cyber Security Award

For the third year in a row, pupils who were part of the S3 Computing Science course have achieved a SQA Level 4 Award in Cyber Security after spending a term learning about aspects of security in Miss Orr and Mr Aitken’s classes. Over the course of a term the 32 Computing Science pupils have been learning skills such as how to secure a network and identify threats to businesses and individuals. During the unit pupils have to complete a series of practical tasks to secure a device on our dummy network and passing a test on security threats.

Mr Aitken said: “Scotland has a booming digital sector and it is hugely important that our young people are aware of the threats posed to businesses and the potential career opportunities available to them. I am sure they have gained a lot of confidence and experience taking part in this course and I hope they are now more aware of the threats they are potentially facing in our ever-connected world”.
