Pupil Success in Designing Business Card for Local Business

Pupils from Wick High School have been involved in an exciting project to design a business card for Far North Aviation, whilst enhancing their design and graphics skills in the Technical Department. It has been a great opportunity for all pupils involved to develop their skills in using desktop publishing software through working on a real life design brief provided by a local business.

Drew Murray (director of Far North Aviation) felt like all the design entries were impressive, but the design entry of Lucy Durrand, S3, was a clear winner in his eyes. Pictured below is Lucy Durrand handing over her winning design to Drew Murray and Benn Murray, along with her technical teachers Miss Anderson and Mr Ross (Faculty Head of Art, Design and Technology).

Far North Aviation have generously donated £500 to the Technical department to be put towards future projects or design and technology based school trips. The department are delighted to have received this donation and will be making good use of this to provide more opportunities to further encourage pupil’s passion for design and technology.

Drew Murray commented, “Far North Aviation are proud to have a local school providing us with a new company business card. We are delighted to see that the work going on inside the classrooms are of benefit to local businesses like ourselves. We have kindly donated a sum of money to the school to assist with future projects/trips.”

Mr Ross commented, “It has been a really great opportunity for the pupils to work on the live brief that Far North Aviation has tasked the pupils with. It has allowed them to develop their ideas in relation to the challenges set by the brief. I am really pleased with the outcomes presented by the pupils in S3. I would further like to thank Far North Aviation for allowing the pupils this opportunity and thank them again for their great generosity”
