S3 Business Studies ‘Subway’ Project

Our S3 Business pupils have recently been using their entrepreneurial skills to work on a Subway sandwich competition. This was inspired by word of a Subway franchise opening in Wick however this has not materialised so the pupils decided to organise the competition as an in-house event.
The competition involved the pupils working in groups to design and market a new ‘Sub’ which meets the healthy living guidelines set by Subway in terms of fat and saturated fat content. The pupils had to each record a 5 minute video showcasing their Sub. A short list of 3-4 finalists was chosen and they presented their ideas to judges Mrs Reid, Home Economics teacher as well as Mrs. Bremner and Mrs. McBean (Business teachers).
The winning Sub was ‘The Mexican’, presented by Alan Plowman, Coinneach Pellow and Lauryn Miller. Runner ups with their entry, ‘Tuckin Turkey’ were Leanne Steven, Shannon Ross, Shannon Miller, and Emma Mackay. Photos are shown below.
All S3 Business students will have a ‘tea party’ during the last week of term and students will have an opportunity to make and eat the winning sub, ‘The Mexican’ as a culmination of the competition.
Well done to all involved!
