Our First Day At School

We are in!

Today saw the beginning of a new chapter in our history as we welcomed our pupils and staff for their first ‘proper’ day in the new school building.

We are delighted to say that the day was a great success: there was a great buzz of excitement from everyone as the first bell neared with pupils making their way to the front entrance to be greeted by staff and to receive instructions on the location of their morning registration class. They were then issued with timetables to fit the new rooms of the school before experiencing their first full day in the new build. It was wonderful to see pupils enjoying the space and light of the corridors as well as benefiting from the well-appointed classrooms.

At around 10am the entire school population went out in to the brief period of sunshine we had today so that a photograph could be taken of everyone in front of the building; this photo will appear in the local press and on this website soon. Some photos taken during the day are shown below and more will appear here soon.

Finally, could we take this opportunity to thank everyone who made today such a special occasion. We are especially proud of our young people who showed a real sense of pride and ownership in their new school. This was remarked upon by more than one visitor today and shows what we have always known and will strive to improve each day; that we have wonderful pupils in our school and now that we have a building to match their qualities Wick High School has a very bright future.
