The Computing Science department are looking for community support to fundraise for a class set of Android tablets to allow us to build, develop and test apps in S2-3.

We are working with the company IT4Kids, who take old computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, refurbish them and then give the proceeds of their sale back to schools to purchase new IT equipment. Supported by Dell and Intel, IT4Kids wipes all data from them using government and industry approved software and refurbishes them to sell for re-use.

We’ll be kick starting our campaign on the 6th of June and will be accepting donations into school from then until the 1st of July. Any and all funds raised will be used to invest in improving educational opportunities for pupils studying Computing Science and will build on the successes we have already seen with the Apps for Good programme. If you have any old equipment that you would like to donate, please take it into school, fill in the donation form and we’ll take care of the rest.

Notes on the equipment accepted:

• Desktops and laptops (the newer the better). Complete with power cable. Note: monitors cannot be accepted
• Tablet PCs & smartphones complete with power cable or USB lead
