As part of their curriculum, S2 pupils have been learning metalworking skills by creating over 130 metal poppies in the school workshop. On Friday 7th November, a group of pupils visited Wick’s war memorial to lay the poppies in tribute to those who served in times of conflict.
The commemoration included a reflective message from Mr Mackay about the significance of Remembrance and local stories from World War I, followed by a minute’s silence. Miss Bennett added a poignant touch by reciting In Flanders Fields.
In addition, Miss Anderson laid a wreath crafted by her S3 Practical Woodworking class, who designed and heat-formed individual plastic poppies to create the display.
Miss Anderson shared, “This is the second year we’ve run this project, and we’re proud to see even more pupils contributing to the local display.”
A special thank you to Eswyl Fell for capturing the event through photography, helping preserve these meaningful moments.
