Yesterday, in slightly unfamiliar circumstamces due to Covid, we held our annual prizegiving ceremony. Sadly, it was not the same without parents/carers and associated guests, but nevertheless the outstanding achievements of so many of our pupils were evident.
Mr Sandecki, Acting Rector, welcomed the group of senior pupils and told them how proud we are of them as a cohort considering the resilience and determination that they had to show in achieveing so much during two academic years of lockdowns and disrupted learning.
Lucy Durrand was named as Dux of Wick High School for Session 2020-21 with an outstanding performance in her Higher subjects, gaining six ‘A’ grades. Joint runners up to the Dux (Proxime Accessit) were Caleb James and Eve Watt.
Other notable prize winners were Joanne Sutherland, winner of The Kevin Costello Prize for endeavour in Science; William Bullen, winner of The Subsea 7 Trophy for S4 Technical; and Molly Miller, Winner of the BBM Solicitors Prize for English & Social Subjects.
